Bring a cool breeze to where you are going. March 27, 2007 David Hostetler (League City, Texas U.S.A.) 44 out of 44 found this review helpful
I HAD to review this after reading the only other review for this fan. I am certain I have reviewed this fan for Amazon before, but for some reason don't see it here. I use two of these fans to move air around in my 20x10 Swiss Gear tent while camping in Texas. It is made from plastic and like all other plastic products, it is breakable if you muscle your way to using it wrong, but usage is fairly straight forward. To open the leg, simply swing it down from the back of the fan on its hinge. Opening the battery compartment is fairly simple as well if you understand what lock, and unlock icons mean. The fan moves LOTS of air, and the ones I own have taken plenty of abuse being tossed into and out of the back of my truck for the last two years. My only complaint with them is the battery compartment cover is a little tough to get back on until you figure out exactly how it works, and on high it will suck an expensive set of D cell batteries down in 24 hours. If you use these a lot, I would STRONGLY recommend getting a couple of sets of rechargable D cells and a charger, OR getting the model with the built in rechargable batteries. I like that this model is also available with a transformer that you can use to run it off of 110v power, which makes camping in sites with electricity much less of a drain in the wallet! I rated this fan a 5 as I feel it is the best of its breed. It is NOT to be compared to a corded box fan or anything like that since you do different things with them. But this fan is the absolute best of its kind that I have tried. I have used several different models from Coleman, this thing moves so much more air that there really is no comparison. The Coleman fans simply do not move air like this thing does...
Ultimate portable fan July 17, 2010 nightowl 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this fan a year ago when my elderly dog couldn't handle temperature in the house greater than 75 degrees. Either we ran the A/C all day just for him or we put a fan near his bed. I didn't want to run up my electric bill when it wasn't really that hot so I decided to try a fan. He liked it but whenever he went to a different room in the house I had to unplug and plug the fan each time. That got annoying real quick so I went out to buy a battery powered fan, something grab n' go. Turns out there aren't any except this one, not that I was able to locate. Batteries can be expensive but nothing compared to running the A/C. I put it near his bed and turned it on low. This fan ran for hours every day without a problem. I loved that it was convenient for me and made him comfortable. It got us through the summer and then I packed it away. It's back out again working as well as ever even though our dog is no longer around to enjoy it (he passed away last month at 18 yrs old).
Oh, another thing I really like about this fan is that it folds up very narrow, easily slips into tight spaces for storage and is easy to tilt. Love that is has a handle. I wasn't expecting to like this fan more than the Vornado but it's now the one I go to first when the temps heat up.
The Best! September 17, 2009 Pete Moss (Michigan) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I had been looking for a battery powered fan to use in my wife's art show booth for extremely hot days. This fan is great! Moves a lot of air and is quiet. I recently used this fan on a camping trip. It was really hot in my tent until I brought out this fan. It ran for a full 6 hours with out slowing down. Great product, very pleased.
Reenactor God send June 30, 2010 David Gobel (CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA, US) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I reenact the Revolutionary war. We have to sleep in tents in the most extreme heat. I purchased this fan on the hopes it would lessen my suffering at night. WOW..it has been a God send! I have used it at two insufferably hot events and ran it on low which kept me more than comfortable the entire night. What an output!!! I highly recommend it to anyone who has to sleep without air conditioning. GREAT PRODUCT!!!
Very Cool Fan! September 13, 2009 Phebe Vance (Northeast Wisconsin) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Purchased this for our camper, for the times we don't "plug in". It is a wonder. It seems to go and go on one set of batteries, it really does move air and it is, as fans go, extremely quiet. It is easy to attach the plug and use it on regular power as well. It folds flat and is therefore easy to store in our limited space on board our home on wheels. It is stable on a flat surface, and has a little hook for hanging (which we have done with an "S" hook). Putting batteries in the first time is a little tricky, but not really hard if you pay attention (not my long suit) to the "cues" on the fan. This product has served us well. No regrets!
