Sometimes you need more power! September 13, 2009 G. E. Williams (California) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
Several years back we had our pool redone, and my wife had a new Hayward pump and filter installed. While the filter worked well, the pump never seemed to move the pool cleaner systems around the pool right. We tried a few different systems the Kreepy Krawley, the Barracuda etc, and I finally thought that I should get the Hayward and that might work better with the Hayward pump? It was the best at cleaning the pool floor, but was the worst yet with the walls. Finally this summer, the pump completely siezed up and after several tries at repairs, I gave up and decided to by a new pump. I considered just getting a new motor, but I had a thought, that "what If the pump is just the wrong one?"
I have a pretty large pool for a back yard pool, and the max flow pump was a 3/4 hp which seemed like not enough, so after considering volume and distance, I decided on the Super Pump 1 1/2 hp. It was a very simple switch, just two wires,(and a ground wire of course) and the plumbing was an exact match.
Now my Hayward pool vac system literally flies around the pool, and does the work in much less than half the time it would have taken before and goes into every inch of the surface sides and bottom.
I wish I would have bought it sooner.
Strong pump, easy to view the leaf/hair catcher April 9, 2010 J. D. Shulmister (Plant City, FL USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Replaced a dead GE pump. Produces a strong flow, and having a very clear, magnified view of the leaf/hair basket is a big plus -- you don't have to open it to see if it needs emptying.
pool hayward pump top of the line May 17, 2010 Gustavo E. Morcate (Sebring, Florida United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This top of the line pump was easy to install, the electric was a breeze and it's very quiet. The pool water never look so good, it shows what a new pump can do. Thanks for the best pump in the market and prompt delivery.
Great pump motor at great price! May 31, 2010 Ron F. (Columbia, IL (by St. Louis)) Extra half horsepower really makes a difference. Price was the key! With no shipping or tax I easily saved over $100 from most other "Best Prices".
Hayward Super Pump works great June 6, 2010 Cabot T. Suggs (Monkton, MD) Just installed it this weekend, replaced a still working but underpowered 1.0 HP A.O Smith Motor and mated it to a new Hayward 24 sand filter. The suction difference moving up half a HP is amazing, this pump seems like it doubled the suction out of the skimmers, can almost literally see the pool getting cleaner. I struggled a bit on the install, havent wired a pool motor before and trying to sort out the wiring between L1 and L2 had me spending quite a bit of time on the web reseaching the right way to do it. The wiring diagrams and instructions have very little info on how to wire, I think thats intentional so you will have a pro do it. But I'm very happy so far, and by the way, the pump on Amazon is about $100 cheaper than what you can find in pool stores, same goes for the filter.
